In reference the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) focus on families, the Prime Minister said, “the coupling of a man and a woman is crucial for the continuation of the human race. My words are especially aimed at single people.” The project underscores the “importance” of traditional heterosexual families in various fields including architecture, tourism, textiles and transportation.

“They sterilized our citizens, our people. That’s what caesareans and abortions are all about,” the Prime Minister said. “They did those things and while doing it they virtually committed murders.”

In a call to “Turkish mothers”, Erdoğan encouraged women to “shatter the tricks being played against Turkey” by giving birth to more children.
