Isik Mater and Orkut Murat Yilmaz from Alternative Informatics Association conducted a digital security workshop for the participants of “New Media School”.
 
Digital security workshop was conducted on the second day (May 13) of the “New Media School” organized by Kaos GL. Over 20 reporter candidates from 14 different cities received training about safe/secure internet and alternatives against surveillance/watching/monitoring.
 
The workshop was conducted by Isik Mater and Orkut Murat Yilmaz from Alternative Informatics Association and it continued throughout the day. Free software, internet censorship, surveillance and tagging mechanisms were discussed and practical methods to protect privacy were explained during the workshop.
 
“Kem Gözlere Şiş (God protect you from evil eyes) Project of Alternative Informatics Association was introduced in the workshop and to what extent do and don’t the used platforms protect the privacy was discussed.
 
“New Media School” continued with hate speech in media, rights-based journalism and sexual health sessions.
